Hi, I’m joanna.

You’ve undoubtedly tried therapy in the past, but did it go deep enough?

You recognize those old familiar patterns, but you want to know how to acknowledge them and choose a different way. Together, we can demystify these unconscious patterns and bring them into conscious awareness. Therapy with me is a combination of understanding yourself on a deeper level and why those patterns occurred in the first place, along with the guidance and tools to feel successful in managing what’s happening in the present.

The success we experience in therapy depends largely on the therapeutic relationship—that is, building a trusting, collaborative, and meaningful connection between client and therapist. With that foundation in place, we can move toward lasting healing and growth. Together, we can navigate both the conscious and unconscious realms to get to the root of your struggles, and begin to choose a new way of being.

My therapeutic style is both warm and “no-nonsense”—with empathic listening and more challenging inquiry, humor, and a strong bullshit detector.

While my theoretical orientation is grounded in psychodynamic theory, I also like to draw upon other modalities and orientations, as appropriate and relevant, for example: mindfulness, Jungian therapy, Gestalt, Somatic therapy, expressive arts, Internal Family Systems, and the Enneagram.

Above all, my approach is client-centered, meaning that our time together is ultimately informed by your goals and intentions in doing this work.

I am trained as an integrative psychotherapist with a masters in clinical counseling from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Before private practice, I trained through the Integrative Therapy Program at California Pacific Medical Center, counseling individuals, couples, and families as they navigated hospitalization, illness, and grief.

When I’m not working, I can often be found playing tennis, hiking with my pup, or planning my next travel destination.

  • Uncover what’s under the surface

  • Be flexible on the path of discovering what’s going on

  • Accept yourself and your current life circumstances

  • Help you to heal the past and manage the present

our sessions are focused on you.

Each session will provide you with the space to be yourself and feel what you need to feel. My number one priority is for you feel safe and comfortable. From there, you’ll be able to be in touch with all parts of yourself, and be understood and heard.

It’s important to me to provide a non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and ensure that the process is collaborative. I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to psychotherapy. Our sessions will fit your specific needs and concerns.
